OUR HISTORY

The Cebu Institute of Medicine is a non-stock, non-profit institution established in June 1957, then known as Cebu Institute of Technology, College of Medicine (CIT - College of Medicine). Its pioneering class of 33 students graduated in 1962 from the then five-year curriculum.

In 1966, CIT - College of Medicine became an affiliate of Velez College under a new name - Cebu Institute of Medicine (CIM).

Dr. Eugenio Alonso, Dr. Constancio Camomot, Dr. Jose Paradela

The Present Dean: Dr. Josefina L. Poblete

From its initial graduates of 33 students in 1962, CIM since then to 2005 has produced 4696 graduates. Of these graduates 35 were with honors and 110 were board topnotchers.

In February 1987, CIM was classified by the Board o­n Medical Education as Level IV, the highest category for medical institutions. In April 1996, the Commission o­n Higher Education has identified CIM as o­ne of the three Center of Excellence for Medicine. The Commission o­n Higher Education has granted CIM an autonomous status in September 2001.


VISION         : Physician with a Heart


MISSION     : To produce graduates who are professionally competent, socially concerned                              and guided by a correct conscience in all their actions.


        The general objective of the school is to provide quality medical education relevant to the needs of the country.


       Its specific objectives are as follows:

a.)   To provide the undergraduates with a firm basic education in medicine and to foster                 habits of academic excellence.

b.)   To imbue in the undergraduates the proper moral and social values.

c.)   To contribute to the development of knowledge through research.

d.)   To assist in the development of teachers, investigators and practicioners,
        both urban and rural, through Program of Graduate Education including residency                     training.
